jungle dream. Diane Moorefield Kenny painting painting

The beauty and color that I see in nature is inspiring me to create.  I see pattern and movement in everything and I’ve tried to recreate it using color harmony and an instinctive sense of brush movement.  I think that the color harmony and beauty helps me to keep a sense of well-being and harmony.

Diane and her husband Ed currently live in the Catskills and produce original clothing for sale at craft fairs.  She has been in business for herself as a clothing designer, who makes her own patterns for 30 years, mostly in New York City.

Every other moment is spent painting, a love from childhood, which she has taken up again after a long absence.  At collage, Diane studied patternmaking at FIT in NYC and art and design at VCU in Richmond, Va.   She has developed a painting style that is self-taught, but inspired by the Impressionists – seeing reflections and shadow in color instead of black and white.

.  I enjoy my own paintings and I hope that others may find them a joy to live with.

Never met a plant that I didn’t like.  So inspired by beauty and harmonious color tones. The painting is quite detailed and is stretched on a canvas that is 1 1/2 thick so it doesn’t need framing because it is painted on the edges.  Hope it bring beauty to the beholder.
